Apperley are specialists in buying, selling and reconditioning used honing machines, all the machines listed below are available to be bought as they are or with a tooling, consumables, delivery, installation and training package. We buy and sell internationally.
This versatile and powerful horizontal hone was built in 1988 and is used as demonstrator and production hone in our subcontract department. Capable of honing parts up to 2 meters long, the versatile control system is capable of honing components with a diameter of 6mm up to a maximum of 750mm.
Price includes tooling for all bores between 25.0 - 100.0mm diameter.
This machine was originally built by us in 1989 and, having part exchanged it against a newer machine, we are now in the process of overhauling and restoring it to its original glory. Ideal for small bore actuators and cylinders up to 125mm diameter and 2m long this middleweight Tubehone is easy to operate and perfect for short run honing jobs
This is the very first Apperley TUBEHONE ever built, and has been used in our contract honing workshop since new. Although now 30-odd years old it is exceedingly reliable, with only the odd oil leak letting it down. Regularly upgraded with new electrics and control systems, it is a proven tough rugged tube hone capable of honing parts 25 -125mm diameter up to 5000mm long. The control system is so smooth that with special tooling it can hone down to 6mm diameter, and so powerful that it can hone up to 500mm diameter should the need ever arise.
This machine is our own demonstrator, build for use primarily in our contract honing department it has an 8-metre workpiece capacity with capability to hone small bore tubes (we’ve honed down to 15mm diameter) yet is just equally competent on large diameter workpieces (up to 750mm o/d). We’ve even used it to hone 15m long submarine periscope tubes from both ends achieving 0.05mm tolerance. It was new in 2012 and has a Siemens touch screen control operating electric drives controlling 15kW rotation, 15kw stroking and 5.5kW push expansion motors. It has mechanical end-clamping which is perfect for both thin and thick walled workpieces. It can be supplied as a full turnkey package with tooling, consumables, delivery, installation, commissioning and training depending on budget
A exceedingly powerful, constant force push expansion tube honing machine, capable of honing bores up to 800mm diameter and 4.5m in length. Currently this machine is being overhauled and repainted and will, in due course, be operational in our subcontract department.
An ideal machine for small engine builder. The Bench Hone was the first design branded by Delapena, but originally made under licence from Sunnen, it will be supplied with a new guard (not shown) prior to sale to prevent access to the belts and pulley area.
Massively powerful Tubehoning machine capable of honing bores up to 450mm/18.0" diameter with ease. It has a 7.5m/20' stroke which means that it can cope with just about any tube or hydraulic cylinder that is thrown at it. We bought this machine in 2015 and stripped , overhauled, rewired and rebuilt it with modern logic processor controls. It is now in great condition and, if required, can be supplied as a complete turn key project complete with tooling, (worldwide) installation and training.
This is an example of the Delapena new generation Speedhone EM machine. This hone has a variable speed 1.5kW rotation motor which benefits from being able to electronically control the spindle's acceleration and braking throughout its range of 250 - 2500 rpm.
One of two Speedhone EM that we have in stock. The EM is the manual version of the latest generation Speedhone and this makes it suitable for small batch work (up to around 50-offs), for larger batches we would recommend the EA version.
We recently bought this machine in, it has been through our workshops and has been serviced and is in very good running order. It's missing its front cover and so is priced to sell as is
If you are looking for a cheap Speedhone then this is the machine for you. We have just bought this one in, and in due course will be putting it through our workshops where it will get a full mechanical and cosmetic overhaul, but for the time being are offering it 'as-is' for the bargain price of £980.
Cracking Speedhone that has been lovingly looked after by a company that restores classic cars. It would be ideal for a small tool room, production shop or engine builder as it hasn't had much recent use and is ready to give years more service.
The Delapena V-450 is an adaption their popular ‘Nodding Donkey’ machine packaged specifically for automotive engine reconditioning. It comes compete with sturdy work table, coolant filter and uses Delapena’s trusty Friction Feed tooling (a £3,750 extra that is included with this machine). If required, and with the right tooling, it can be used to hone bores up to 14.5” diameter but is ideally suited to the more commonly found 1” to 5” bore diameters.
Pemamo honing machines use diamond plated laps to achieve very tight tolerances and this machine is suitable for honing large batches of small diameter parts to micron tolerances.
Pemamo use special diamond plated lapping tools to achieve very tight tolerances and are perfect for finishing large batches of parts to very tight tolerances. The EH model has a powered stroke mechanism which de-skills the process even further.
Diatomaceous earth pre-coat coolant filters are designed for use in large production honing machine shops. The machine has the capability of filtering coolant down to 5-microns at a rate of 60-ltrs/minute and is ideal for applications that produce significant amounts of honing sludge. We use a pre-coat filter just like this in our own tubehone shop, and it copes with 5 large machines running 24-hrs/day.
The CK-21 is the third generation of Sunnen's popular Cylinder King range of honing machines. This machine is ideal for achieving tricky plateau surface finishes. This particular machine was bought by us direct from Sunnen UK and has been used in our contract honing machine shop since new. We have just acquired a brand new Sunnen SV-30 as its replacement, and so this machine is now surplus to our requirements and is priced to sell.
This machine started life with a 1,5m stroke but has been extended and is now capable of honing tubes up to 3000mm long. It is currently undergoing a full overhaul and refurbishment and will be available for demonstration and sale in around 3 to 4 months time.
The Sunnen MBB 1290 hone is a basic, robust and reliable machine. Suitable for small batches and ideal for a workshop, this machine is capable of giving many more years service and is realistically priced for a quick sale.
Sunnen MBC-1800H machine in good condition that is suitable for honing medium and large batches of large or irregularly shaped components. The machine is in excellent working order and will be fully serviced prior to dispatch
New in Spring 2019 this is a highly sought after 1804 with power auto-stroking and integral coolant filter. Ideal for cylinders, barrels and liners as well as numerous small parts up to 100mm diameter. This machine is fully commissioned and can be demonstrated running under power in our Cheltenham UK workshop.
This is a machine towards the end of its life and is ideal for spares. It's the same basic machine as all Sunnen MBB1600 series hones and has good motors and pulleys and the basic shell of the machine is still in very good condition. It's offered 'SOLD as SEEN' and priced accordingly
The SV-210 became Sunnen's principle vertical honing machine around 2006, replacing the ever popular CK-21 machine. It has servo drives and a full vertical stroke, meaning that it can automatically hold micron tolerances on large batches of parts from 18 to 200mm diameter up to 750mm long. This machine has had an interesting history, it was bought new to hone cylinder blocks for an OEM and changed hands several times as the work was placed with different sub-contractors. We acquired it in 2016, at that time it had a history of unreliability and was in poor cosmetic state, and so we initiated a full overhaul. The reliability problem was eventually traced to a dodgy connector buried deep inside the electronics system and having fixed that, we placed the machine in our busy contract honing shop were it has run without fault ever since. We have recently replaced it with a brand new Sunnen SV-30 machine and so for the second time in its life this machine has become redundant and surplus to requirements, and is attractively priced for a quick sale.
